Elevator Music | A Project by Off-White and Byredo
Virgil is a provocative and contradictory force able to blend the past, present and future harmoniously through the Off-White label. Gotham, a former a basketball player, created his own fragrance brand in 2006, inspired by a trip to his mother’s country, India, surrounded by the scents of incense and spices.
These two creative and eclectic minds have come together to create Elevator Music, presented at the beginning of March during Paris Fashion Week, where guests were immersed in a captivating elevator-themed event.
The project includes not only the launch of the Eau de Parfum, the hand cream and the hair mist, but also a capsule collection of t-shirts, denim and bags. The bottle the scent will come in is grey-striped packaging with refined graphics, very minimalistic. The smell won’t be opulent but will naturally melt on the skin without being clamorous. Summarized as woody floral, it presents notes of midnight violet, bamboo, amyris and musky ambrette matched with burnt wood and jasmine petals. The final result is a fresh spring Eau de Parfum with an oriental taste, not a strong and defined scent but more something that really seems to come out of your own skin.
As the duo stated: “The concept of our collaboration was to define emotion with the least amount of effects. Much like literal elevator music, we wanted the scent to play a background to one’s life.”
If you want to be one of the first to purchase the fragrance, do so from April 23rd at Selfridges in London; May 7th at Galeries Lafayette in Paris; from May 17th at Barney’s Madison in New York City; May 22nd at Barney’s Beverly Hills and June 4th at Boon The Shop in South Korea. I have the feeling that Elevator Music will be the must-have fragrance of the Spiring/Summer 2018.
