Costa Rica the Caribbean Coast

 In Influencers, Travel

Our adventure continued discovering the ocean: We visited Costa Rica’s south Caribbean shoreline, the ocean is warm, there are coral reefs and tropical fish and turtles.

Surprisingly we found an Afro-Caribbean influence here, completely different from the culture of the highlands, sometimes it seems to be in Jamaica for the colors the population and of course the reggae music!

Our destination has been Puerto Viejo de Talamanca, it has a distinct surfer vibe, with boutique hotels, yoga, beach, bars and international restaurants creating a bustling nightlife.

We enjoyed a little of civilization, tasted all chocolates from different cacao local producer in An aroma cafe, Caribean Coffe and Chocolate, we have eaten vegan banana pancakes, fresh home made smoothies, home made marmalade in Art Cafe “Como en Mi Casa”,an Italian bar that was very welcoming.

During the day you can enjoy the beach  maybe take a surf class, have some treatment in nice spa, rent a bike or have a yoga or a massage session, or simply chill in some hammock , they are everywhere here!

At night there is music and nice dinner options : We had a great dinner in the center on the terrace of a romantic restaurant Tierra Madre.

But during the day there are several Natural reserves to visit, We have been in Cahuita National Park that is on the coast , just a little bit north from Puerto Viejo.

On the south, the last town you will hit is Manzanillo and the protected Refugio Nacional Gandoca-Manzanillo –perfect if you like the quiet life competed to the crowded Puerto Viejo.

All the Jamaican-descended Ticos who live here are very nice, and the color the atmosphere even is the sky was a bit grey, because we are in the Rain season!

We reccommend to visit this place from January to April, and the weather will be perfect !

Beside it is already full of touristic attractions , waking up listening to the sound of the ocean is priceless, and the nature is surrounding, flowers, cacao, coffee and Banana plantation grow all in the hinterland, the PURA VIDA life style is fascinating us a lot!

For the first time since the begin of our round trip we both felt this is a place where we could love to live in! It is the perfect combination between nature and human activities, we could have a sustainable and happy life here, and we have the beach! After living in Miami we got this incredible truth : Life is GOOD at the Beach!

For now is just a dream….. we have so much to explore still …… we are just at the begin…..
