Chanel Métiers d’Art 2017
When it comes to Chanel and the Métiers d’Art show all the worldwide audience has its eye on it.
For the ones who are not familiar, this unique show is celebrating the refined craftsmanship that the artisan partners of Chanel bring to the French Maison collections. The catwalk takes place each year outside the fashion schedule and every time is in a different location.
This year Karl Lagerfeld bring the Métiers d’Art runway to the Elbphilharmonie of Hamburg, his hometown. But don’t think that Mr Lagerfeld choose Hamburg for some romantic reasons because we have to read in that choice the fact that he felt in love with the architecture of the opera house, designed by Herzog and De Meuron. The show was deeply dedicated to the small specialist ateliers that are related to the brand, such as Lesage, Lemarié, Desrues, Maison Michel and Massaro.
A show in a show, with an orchestra of 35 piece that accompanied the models on the catwalk, with clothes and accessories inspired by Hamburg’s sailors. Queen of the show was the rising talent Kaia Gerber.
The hearts of a huge part of people who attended the show ( and of other Chanel’s lovers ) was stolen by the iconic tweed suit with a brand new sailor collar and oversized duffel bag has claimed to become the new IT bag of the next season. But not only these pieces are ready to be some must haves, also the sailors caps, the oversized navy cable knits, the striped mini-dress and the button front trousers reinvented by the brand, gave birth to a soon-to-be-2018-trend.
The final aesthetic result is pleasent, chic, sophisticated and beautiful, never above the line, that is really close to the elegant allure of the city of Hamburg.
